It’s serving with a smile and a laugh despite hours upon hours of tending to all types of customers. It’s consistently good music that keeps you moving. Any bar can play a hit song or two, but it’s the bar with the house DJ that’s playing your favorite belt-it-out-tunes at 1:15am that keeps you coming back for more.

The stretch of Wells St in Old Town (between Division St. and North Ave.) is where the magic happens. It’s a bustling north-south corridor spanning roughly .5 miles stuffed full with bars, restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. You hear Chicago referenced as The Second City, that comes from Old Town. North Avenue Beach and the Lincoln Park Zoo are both a reasonable walk away. Anthony Bourdain once spent a decent amount of time here when filming an episode of his show, Parts Unknown.
We’re proud to call Old Town home. We’re proud of our neighbors that call it home, too. But we’d be remiss if we weren’t wholly confident that The VIG is the little port in the storm that is the hustle and bustle of Wells Street. We call it the Wells Street Shuffle. You start near Division, making your way north past Declan’s and Happy Camper. No thanks. Benchmark? That’s still there, AND there’s a line? Fireplace Inn? Maybe when the sun is up. Woodie’s Flat? We loved college, too.
